The LGBTQIA+ community has so many wonderful identities, and so many wonderful people. Asexuality is a beautiful identity, with a beautiful community that comes with it. As an asexual person myself, I wanted to share this part of myself in a fun way.
The asexual flag is black, white, gray, and purple. To honour this, I used blackberries and lemon. This combination is fresh, delightful, and delicious. Much like asexuals, it is not a commonly thought of combination, but just as amazing as the rest.
Butter: The butter is best used at room temperature, as it is easier to cream and mix with. This ingredient is easily replaceable with margarine or shortening, but the butter does bring some richness.
Lemon: It is important to use both the zest and the juice. The zest brings a lovely lemon sweetness, while the juice brings the slight sourness and traditional lemon flavour. Together, they create a wonderful lemon flavour that is neither too sweet or too sour.
Blackberries: Frozen blackberries are the way to go. The size of the blackberries will determine how much blackberry flavour you get. More chunky allows for the blackberries to bring their sweet summer flavour, with some slight bitterness that balances the lemon.
